In the recent changes, a "Friend" is also defined as "add(someone) to a list of friends or contacts on a social networking website".
It is true that we like to be informed about the happenings and the events in our near and dear one's lives. But what defines a true friend?
I've been blessed to have many wonderful friends, and in this fast paced life or like how we've made it to be only a few stick around and to me, it is all about having a set of people or that one person you can bank on at any point of time no matter how good or bad things are, that one person to bring back that fire, to put that faith in you, to show you the light and stand by you and face the world.
It was 'Jai' and 'Veeru' immortalized by Amithab Bachchan and Dharmendra as far as I can remember was the first movie to instill that faith of friendship in me. The motorcycle song "Yeh Dosti" from Sholay has left a long lasting impact in my life. That is TRUE FRIENDSHIP!
Recently taken interest in philosophy and learning all the religions, there are numerous references in the holy books citing the same. Humanity and friendship is the only way to go about in this world of commotion.
A true friend is one who makes your life a lot easier. It goes without saying that it is also in helping one seek his or her greatest heights and success. It is about equality and yet putting one's interest above the other. Healthy ego and a wild spirit.
You can be true friends with someone who does not share your passion, love for things and be like North and South pole. All is takes is two hearts and a strong bond to be true friends. With friendship comes mutual respect and a deep understanding.
You can always associate with your true friends, you might share a hundred things with a lot of friends, but there is one or a select set you can roll on the floor laughing and laugh your lungs out. Quite literally!
A true friend helps you raise little higher and a little better.
A true friend is one who'd walk in and ring the bell without any notice, a true friend is one who'd walk in to your room knowing its messy. A true friend will still stick with you even after you haven't taken bath for 4 days. Will scold you and yet talk to you when you give them a call at 2 am. A true friend will never give up on you even when the odds are stacked up against you.
Not all are lucky to have that friend in life, but you sure are not living a life if you don't have or lost one like .that. Life is simply meaningless without a "Friend".
So be that support, a strong pillar. Live large, love fully, give them the wings, spread your arms, give them your shoulder. Even when miles apart and the distance grows, a true friend is one who feels the greatest sense of achievement and the highest level of satisfaction when the other one is showered with love and glory.
Of course! there will be testing times, there will be that one string that keeps springing up every now and then. But that's a part of life, part of how the truth is tested. In these times, never lose hope. Never give up. There will be light. Sometimes our preoccupation is on having friends, we should focus on being a true friend.
